Decentralized storage platform: Walrus is a programmable storage network built on the Sui blockchain (what is Sui?). It lets developers store, deliver, and manage large data files (blobs) on-chain, making data programmable and tamper‐resistant.

Backed by major investors: Originally developed by Mysten Labs (the Sui team), Walrus is now championed by the Walrus Foundation. To accelerate its vision, it secured $140M in funding (led by Standard Crypto, a16z crypto, Franklin Templeton, etc.).

Innovative tech: Walrus uses a novel 2D erasure-coding scheme (“RedStuff”) to split and store data shards across many nodes with only 4–5× replication. This yields high performance and resilience (data can recover even if two-thirds of shards are missing).

Developer-focused: Walrus provides first-class tools (a CLI, JSON/HTTP APIs, and SDKs) and integrates with Move smart contracts on Sui, so apps can programmatically store and update data. It supports traditional web protocols (caching, CDNs) for smooth integration.

Token and incentives: Walrus have a native $WAL token for storage payments, staking, and governance. Mainnet launched in March 2025, and tokenomics plans include community airdrops and subsidies.

Introduction

Founded in 2018, Dusk is a layer 1 blockchain designed for regulated and privacy-focused financial infrastructure. Tokenization
Tokenization builds on digitization by adding specific functionalities to these digital representations, such as fractional ownership and programmability via smart contracts.
While tokenization introduces exciting possibilities like the ability to fractionalize ownership or automate specific functions through smart contracts, it still faces a fundamental limitation. This limitation comes from the fact that there is the need for reconciliation between the tokenized asset and the underlying asset. Due to regulatory requirements, the underlying asset is still held by a custodial entity (such as a CSD), and this dependence introduces inefficiencies, including delays in settlement and increased costs due to the necessity of verifying that the tokenized form and the underlying asset are in sync.
Tokenization deals with the front-end of financial transactions, making assets more accessible and programmable. However, it does not resolve the deeper infrastructural challenges related to clearing, settlement, and compliance. These challenges can only be resolved by innovating the infrastructure level of finance and hold the necessary licenses to do so. The vast majority of tokenization platforms still need to rely on traditional financial intermediaries, as the underlying asset needs to be reconciled with the synthetic one. Securities are highly regulated assets, and there is no way to avoid the scrutiny of regulators. The requirement of having the necessary licenses to deal with securities is often an obstacle for tech companies, as they depend on complying with applicable regulatory frameworks in order to use their solution.

$DUSK NPEX refers to the partnership between Dusk Network and NPEX Stock Exchange to launch a fully regulated blockchain-powered securities exchange in Europe.
