The team also chose a Shiba Inu as the token's logo.
#DOGE runs on Ethereum and is an ERC-20 token. In August 2023, the team activated the mainnet of the Shibarium L2 solution. The network uses a new consensus mechanism called Proof-of-Participation to reduce computational costs. The developers also plan to launch an algorithmic stablecoin, issue the SHIB Burn Visa card, and build a L3 solution on top of Ethereum.

Dogecoin was created in December 2013. Programmers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer worked on the digital asset. The developers conceived the project as a parody of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
The team considered the name "Doge" "very funny," and chose Kabosu, a #Shibalnu dog from Japan, as the coin's symbol. The dog was the subject of internet memes and died in May 2024.
Technically, Dogecoin was created as a fork of #Litecoin and uses a Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism. It takes one minute to mine a new block, and the miner is rewarded with 10,000 DOGE. The supply of coins is unlimited.
