Recently I've been reading many technical books in my spare time, such as Japanese Candlestick Techniques, Technical Analysis of the Futures Market, and Dow Theory. However, I still can't apply them in practice—like recognizing hammer and hanging man patterns. Even when I find them, they don't work because the market doesn't follow textbook patterns at all. I'm completely overwhelmed and don't know how to get started. Any guidance from experts would be greatly appreciated.
