WHAT DOES PPI MEAN?
PPI stands for Producer Price Index which measures price changes at the producer level, not what consumers pay. It tracks how much businesses receive for their goods and services before those goods reach retailers or end users.
Think of it as inflation at the factory gate.
If CPI answers “How expensive is life getting for consumers?”, PPI answers “How expensive is it getting to produce stuff?”
PPI is where everything beginning before we reach CPI data so as to guage what will happen to the CPI data.

Core PPI vs Headline PPI
Headline PPI includes everything, especially volatile items like energy and food.
Core PPI removes food and energy to show underlying inflation trends.
Markets care more about core PPI because it reflects persistent inflation, not short-term noise.
