If you’re still chasing after cookie ingredients, eggnog or a forgotten carton of cream, Wednesday is your best shot to get it before some grocery stores close for Thursday’s holiday. Most Northeast Florida grocery stores are open under modified hours Wednesday, but Christmas Day will look very different, with Publix, Aldi and Winn-Dixie going dark while only a handful of specialty markets open for limited hours.
Because hours can vary by location, it’s always best to call or check a store’s website before you head out. Here’s what we know about local grocery store closures for Christmas.
Most major grocery chains in Northeast Florida plan to operate with reduced hours on Christmas Eve.Publix: Stores are typically open on Christmas Eve but close early, often around 7 p.m.
Winn-Dixie: Most locations are expected to be open with reduced Christmas Eve hours, also often closing earlier than normal.
Aldi: Aldi locations are usually open on Christmas Eve with shortened hours, often closing mid-afternoon.
Most other local grocers and chains were also expected to follow modified Christmas Eve schedules. If you’re planning last-minute holiday shopping or just regular groceries, you likely won't be able to do it Christmas Day.
