The Ethereum world is once again discussing the fundamental principles of proof-of-stake (PoS). On September 17, 2025, the network co-founder Vitalik Buterin responded to criticism regarding the current withdrawal queue for staked $ETH , which reached 45 days. In his post on X, Buterin compared the withdrawal process to a soldier's decision to leave the army: "Staking is taking on a solemn duty to protect the chain.
