๐บ CRYPTO SCAM WARNING: My Wallet Showed Fake Funds! ๐บ
Hey everyone,
Iโm sharing this gut-wrenching experience to help you avoid falling into the same crypto scam trap I did.
๐
It happened last month.
I opened my crypto wallet to check my balance, expecting to see my recent paycheck deposited as USDT. But when I tried to withdraw, I got a shocking message:
โPay a 20% activation fee to unlock your funds.โ ๐จ
Confused, I checked my walletโit showed funds! But something felt off. I contacted my walletโs support team, and their response left me floored:
โYour wallet is connected to a fake custom node. The funds you see arenโt real.โ
After hours of back-and-forth, I learned the truth. A scammer had tricked me into adding a โcustom nodeโ to my wallet, which displayed a fake balance. My real balance? Zero. The scammer was trying to extort me with a fake โactivation fee.โ
The worst part?
๐ My paycheck never made it to my wallet, and I nearly sent more money to the scammer.
๐ก What You Should Know Before Using Crypto Wallets:
1๏ธโฃ Beware of โcustom nodesโ
โข Never add a custom node unless itโs from a trusted, official source.
โข Scammers use fake nodes to show fake balances that donโt exist on the real blockchain.
2๏ธโฃ Verify your balance
โข Always check your wallet address on a blockchain explorer to confirm your real balance.
โข If the wallet shows funds but the blockchain doesnโt, itโs a scam.
3๏ธโฃ Watch for red flags
โข Anyone asking for โactivation feesโ or pushing you to add custom nodes is a scammer. Legit wallets donโt charge fees to access your funds.
โข Be cautious of unsolicited messages, especially on Telegram or social media.
This scam broke my trust, but Iโm sharing my story to protect others. I now use TokenPocket, a secure wallet with default nodes you can trust, and I always verify transactions on a blockchain explorer.
Learn from my mistake. Protect your funds. Stay cautiousโtrade smarter.
