It is issued by Paxos Trust Company, with reserves consisting of U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries, and similar cash equivalents. The stablecoin is part of PayPal's broader push to integrate digital currencies into everyday financial transactions.
Built on blockchain technology, PYUSD is designed to support faster and more efficient digital payments. It is currently available on the Ethereum network and has expanded to other blockchains such as Solana, with additional integrations under review. The token can be held, transferred, or spent through PayPal and Venmo, and can also be moved to external wallets that support compatible networks.
